Courteney Cox and hubby David Arquette came out in Hollywood on Monday night to help battle a disease that hits very close to home.

"E.B. is a terrible disease that has affected a family in my really close circle of friends," Courteney told Access Hollywood.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (aka E.B.) is a rare, debilitating skin disease that can cause multiple problems from blistering to skin cancer.

"It's like two in every 100,000 kids," Cox continued. "It's really rare and these kids either, not all of them survive … or they don't have normal childhoods. It's really horrible."

As a spokesperson for Kinerase Skincare, Courteney is hoping to raise awareness for the genetic disease.

And Monday's fundraiser brought out the likes of Courteney's sister-in-law Rosanna Arquette, Diane Lane, hubby Josh Brolin and their daughters, as well as Camryn Manheim and her son Milo.

The event raised over $100,000 and for 22-year-old Cristina Perez, who suffers from E.B., Courteney's involvement made a huge difference.

"We thanked her for doing this and getting involved," Perez told us.
