Nov. 16: She was known simply as Baby Fae. An infant girl born twenty-five years ago with a fatal heart defect. In a controversial operation that created sensational headlines around the world, she received the transplanted heart of a baboon. Although Baby Fae survived for only twenty days afterward, doctors involved say she paved the way for future infant heart transplants involving human donors. NBC'S George Lewis reports.
