No. 24: Star in a Broadway show   (WATCH THE VIDEO)

“I would love to have the opportunity to sing on broadway. I have been singing all my life and it has always been a dream of mine to sing on the stage. I have performed in many different venues but the stage has not been one of them. I was married young and have 3 kids now. Your own dreams seem to go on hold when you are raising kids. My middle son is taking the path that I wish I had taken. He is going to school in New York and studying to be an actor. Singing is not really his bag but the stage is. When I brought him to school in February, we had a chance to go and see Wicked. I have since bought the soundtrack and do nothing but sing those songs everyday in the car on my way to work. I even find myself fantasizing about me being on stage. I think I would make a great Elphaba! I guess even 44 year old mothers can dream. I have been a single mom for the last 7 years and have put alot of things on hold for me. I would love to finish school and get a music degree — something for me now. I sing with the symphony chorus here which is fun and something I have always wanted to do. Now that my kids are older, I can look at the things that I have wished for in my life. Singing on broadway is at the top of the list. I would love to have the opportunity to fulfill my greatest dream. I am trying to help my son fulfill his dream, maybe the Today show can help me fulfill mine!!! Thanks — Cathy Shipley

No. 23: See whales migrate   (WATCH THE VIDEO)

“Thirty-one years – that's how long I have carried this torch. It started with a simple black vinyl record that I sent away for from the Oceanographic Institute. I was so excited when I put it on the record player and out came these haunting sounds that literally made me cry, and feel such a connection to the beautiful guttural singing of the humpback whales. I would love to be able to experience the kinship I felt when I first heard those songs so long ago on that simple vinyl record. I need to see one of our earth most treasured creatures with my own eyes, feel its presence next to me.” – Darlene Rain
