Baby boomers spend days on end juggling the demands of hectic home and work lives. That makes it doubly attractive to seek out ski vacations at remote resorts where they can leave troubles-and the crowds-behind. Even better when that far-away is combined with luscious luxury.
Just because a resort is remote, doesn't mean there are no indulgences at the end of the day. When a rugged day is filled with crisp air, deep snow and mountain visuals, the experience of a soothing spa, scalding sauna and impeccable service are all the sweeter.
Here are five favorite luxury accommodations at resorts known for being relatively isolated, uncrowded and laced with terrain where skiers and snowboarders can play as hard as they want:
Four Seasons Resort, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
At Jackson Hole, the views are astonishing. Jagged peaks soar out of a narrow flat plain that's spliced by the winding Snake River. While Jackson is known for its gnarly expert-taunting terrain, the mountain has gentler terrain too and guests of all abilities will find they leave here as better skiers and riders. Teton Village, at the base of the mountain, offers everything guests might need, from lodging, restaurants and nightlife, to a grocery and liquor store. Though Jackson has been known for cowboy bars and the nearby authentic town, the resort now drips with luxury accommodations, restaurants and spas.
The ski-in/ski-out Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole oozes rustic chic. Rooms and suites, with natural polished wood, stone and local art, reflect the region's Western and Native American influences and include fireplaces, private balconies, thick terry robes, and down duvets and pillows. The hotel has an outdoor heated pool, three outdoor hot-spring-style hot tubs, fitness facilities and classes, a full-service spa, a fine-dining restaurant, two lounges, and shops. The ski concierge can help plan everything from lift tickets to lessons.
The Summit at Big Sky, Big Sky, Montana
When the plane lands at Bozeman's Gallatin Field, visitors might feel as though they are entering a private rancher's massive lodge rather than an airport. This is a different vacation with genuine Western atmosphere and spectacular scenery. Craggy Lone Peak reigns above the surroundings, scraping the heavens at 11,166 feet.

The resort's 3,600 acres of terrain often leave skiers and snowboarders with the impression that they have the mountains to themselves. Nearby Yellowstone National Park is less crowded than in the summer and the cold winter air lends a mystical quality to the geysers and geo-thermal wonders.
The Summit at Big Sky is a ski-in/ski-out luxury world with breathtaking penthouses, all with inspiring views. The exudes low-key luxury-an artful blend of craftsmanship and comfortable furnishings. The common areas are filled with oversized leather and animal-print furniture, artwork depicting Montana's history and natural beauty, soaring stone fireplaces and polished wood. Richly decorated rooms have all amenities. The Summit also has a sauna, steam room, indoor/outdoor pool-size hot tub with views of the mountain, fitness facilities, day spa and gourmet restaurant.
