Is the Piano Man getting tuned up?

A source says that Billy Joel is getting tests in the North Shore Hospital on Long Island. “He’s been having some problems and they’re doing tests on his stomach,” says the insider. “Hopefully, there’s nothing there.”

“After experiencing severe gastric pains, Billy Joel has been admitted to a local New York hospital for tests,” Joel’s rep told The Scoop. “He’s expected to be released later this week. There is no diagnosis available.”

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston haven’t formally split, but actress/singer Christina Milian is already expressing interest in him, saying that Pitt is her “dream lover.”

Perhaps more surprisingly, however, the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” star tells the February/March issue of Complex magazine that she’s got a major crush on Steven Tyler. The two appear together in the upcoming “Get Shorty” sequel “Be Cool.”

“When I was younger I never paid attention to him, but when we did the scene, I was like, ‘Ah! You are so sexy right now I could turn into a groupie!’” the 23-year-old Milian said of the 56-year-old lead singer of Aerosmith. “His lips were on the same microphone as mine, and I was ready to just kiss him. I don’t know what it was, but I became a groupie.”

Notes from all over
BECKINSALE

Lauren Bacall wasn’t impressed with Kate Beckinsale’s portrayal of Ava Gardner in “The Aviator.” She was, however, impressed with Cate Blanchett’s performance as her friend the late Katharine Hepburn. “Cate Blanchett didn’t look like Kate, but she captured her — her energy and vitality,” Bacall told the London Daily Telegraph. “I thought the actress playing Ava Gardner less successful. Ava was ravishing.”  . . . Heidi Klum and fiancé Seal went to carnival in her hometown of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany on Sunday dressed up as dragons.  . . . Elton John won’t let his comments about Madonna’s alleged lip synching die. “I was just having fun and it’s like I said that Hitler was right, or something,” John said, according to Handbag.com. “Everybody knows Madonna lip-synchs. Everybody knows a lot of people lip-synch onstage. It was no big deal... I got a lot of flak for (saying) it. Somebody said, ‘Well, she can’t sing when she’s in the crab position.’ Well, there you go... especially if she had hemorrhoids as well.”
