COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Marathoner Deeja Youngquist tested positive for the banned endurance enhancer EPO in an out-of-competition test earlier this year, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Thursday.
Youngquist, 27, of Albuquerque, N.M., is disputing the test results, and no sanction has been imposed.
Youngquist tested positive in an out-of-competition test on March 16, USADA said.
She finished eighth in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in St. Louis on April 3, nearly six minutes behind winner Colleen De Reuck and 4½ minutes behind Jen Rhines, who earned the third and final spot on the U.S. team.
USADA’s announcement is required 30 days after it told the U.S. Olympic Committee of the positive test.
