Tom Costello

Tom Costello is a Washington-based correspondent for NBC News. His reports appear on “Today,” “NBC Nightly News,” MSNBC and CNBC.

Prior to joining NBC News, Costello spent seven years at CNBC, most recently as the network's Senior Correspondent.

His assignments have taken him around the world: from the terrorist bombings in Madrid, to the Korean DMZ, the Persian Gulf, Japan, and across Europe.

From 1999-2002, he gained national recognition as CNBC's NASDAQ correspondent. There he covered the stock market's 1999/2000 rally, subsequent crash, and the financial market's recovery from the 9/11 attacks.

From 1996-1999, Costello reported from London for both CNBC and NBC News, covering Europe's economic union, and the death of Princess Diana among other stories.

Before joining CNBC, Costello contributed to Financial Times TV and CNN while living in Brussels, Belgium. He spent six years at KUSA-TV in Denver, and two years at KVIA-TV in El Paso, TX. His assignments included the Oklahoma City bombing and the Los Angeles riots.

His numerous awards include a regional Emmy for Outstanding Live Reporting, a Best of Gannett Award, and two Best Reporting honors from the Associated Press.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a master's degree in Administration/International Commerce from Boston University-Brussels Campus.

He's married with two children.
