    >> i want to say a few words about the incident that happened in frankfurt, germany. i am saddened and outraged about this attack that took the lives of two americans and wounded many others. the united people are united in expressing our gratitude to the service of those who loss. michelle and i have the family and friends in our thoughts and prayers, and we are praying for a speedy recovery for those who were injured. i want everybody to understand that we will spare no effort in understanding how this act took place and working with the german authorities to make sure that all of the perpetrators are brought to justice. we don't have all of the information yet, and you will be fully briefed as we get more information, but it is a stark reminder of the extraordinary sack ri foos rifices that our men and women are making all around the world to keep us safe and the dangers they face all around the globe. so, i think that it is fair to say that on behalf of the american people , we want to extend our deepest condolences to families. we will give you further updates as we get more information on that.

    >>> president obama coming into the briefing room to express outrage, regret and sorrow over the deaths of american service members, airmen, in frankfurt, germany, and angela merkel is expressing outrage. the shooter was a 21-year-old kosovo man and no motive described yet. in the interim, the president said he will be taking questions on a lot of other subjects after he meets with mexico's president calderon, and that meeting is tomorrow. of course, on their agenda is the drug war that has been taking more and more lives along both borders, but at the same time, so much has happened in libya. there are a lot of questions for the president on what and how he would clarify the military options for the united states . we heard today from secretary of state hillary clinton testifying that everything is still on the table. the arab league came out today against a no-fly zone, and very strong statements in house testimony today from defense secretary robert gates , and the chairman of the joint chiefs , admiral mike mullen saying that a no-fly zone is very complicated. secretary gates said there is loose talk and too much loose talk about it around the world, and particularly, he is clearly pointing to some of to fellow cabinet members . at the same time, secretary gates said that it would require an air strike to take out libyan air defenses before they could launch a no-fly zone, and we heard on this program earlier today, the chairman of the senate foreign relations committee strongly calling for that and saying it is not
