The 23-year-old, described by police as a transient, was found unresponsive in his chair, with no obvious injuries, after a screening of the vampire romance movie on Sunday night, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Paramedics could not resuscitate him.

The man appeared to have gone alone to the 6 p.m. screening. He was discovered by cinema staff about 8.20 p.m. when the rest of the patrons had left, Detective Senior Sgt. Scott Miller told the Herald.

"There are no obvious injuries to this person. And we are looking at this as an unexplained death," Miller said.
