ROCHESTER, Minn. — A Minnesota man has been found guilty of assaulting his infant son after the boy was separated from a conjoined twin.

Judge Kevin Lund found 30-year-old Robert Heck of North Mankato guilty of first-degree assault following a two-week trial.

Doctors found 25 fractures in the legs, ribs and arms of Jordan James when they inspected the boy when he was 2 months old.

Jordan and Jacob James were joined at the abdomen when they were born in November 2006 and immediately underwent successful separation surgery.

Heck's attorneys said a bone disease was to blame for the boy's fractures. They have vowed to appeal.
