“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” provides reports and analysis of the day’s most newsworthy national and international events.

The early evening newscast inaugurated its current format Aug. 1, 1970, when “The Huntley-Brinkley Report” was expanded to seven nights a week.

Regular features include the “Fleecing of America,” an examination of government waste, "Making a Difference," profiles of remarkable individuals who help others, and “In Their Own Words,” segments in which individuals talk about the day’s news.

Every evening, Williams takes viewers “In Depth” with a longer-form piece examining the top news story of the day.

Previous NBC News anchors have included John Cameron Swayze, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, Frank McGee, John Chancellor, Roger Mudd and Tom Brokaw.
