Only 20 percent of some 30,000 European Union residents questioned last month said they had no plans to travel this year, according to a Tuesday European Commission report.

Europeans' favorite vacation spot is Spain, followed by France and Italy, the survey said.

Some 58 percent of Europeans made their own travel arrangements instead of using a travel agency, it said.
