Passenger revenue among U.S. airlines fell 15 percent in October compared to the same month last year, an industry trade group said Friday.

The Air Transport Association said its figures are based on a sample group of more than two dozen carriers.

October marked the 12th consecutive month in which passenger revenue fell from the prior year, ATA said, citing ticket price declines.

The group said 3 percent fewer passengers traveled on U.S. airlines in October, while the average price to fly one mile fell 13.5 percent.

Passenger revenue declines extended beyond the U.S., particularly in trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific markets, ATA said.
