The Department of Education on Monday announced Hanalei Elementary School will reopen Tuesday after heavy rains over the weekend cut off water service.
Kauai's Department of Water will provide the school with a portable water tank to give the campus water for drinking, cooking, and washing. The Parent Teacher Student Association will also provide bottled water and water coolers for parts of campus.
The DOE will also provide water-free hand sanitizers in each classroom.
School officials will ensure the faucets will not be used until service is restored, DOE officials said.
