State officials are trying to determine how to remove a sailboat that ran aground off Waikiki Beach on Monday morning.
The boat was found off the Waikiki Sheraton Hotel's beach front at about 4:45 a.m. about 100 yards off shore.
Those onboard called for help after running aground at about 2 a.m., state officials said.
The Coast Guard dispatched a team from Sand Island to assess the situation. There appears to be no pollution concerns, officials said.
The bow of the boat was freely moving around, officials said.
There were six people on board, officials said. The people made it to shore on their own.
The boat's owner said he does have insurance and is waiting for a contractor to remove the vessel. He told state officials he and two passengers were anchored off Waikiki sleeping when the anchor line broke.
