Milford Deaths Ruled Murder, Suicide

MILFORD, Mich. - Milford Police said a 61-year-old man shot his 60-year-old wife with a shotgun inside of their Milford home early last week before he killed himself sometime over the weekend.

Milford Police Lt. Tom Callahan said the bodies were discovered Sunday night by the couple’s daughter, who broke into the locked home on Bristol Court when they didn’t show up for an event.

"When they got there they could not get inside the home," Callahan said. "They used force to get in and inside they found their parents."

The couple's dog was also fatally shot.

Callahan said a suicide note was not found and a motive has not been established.

Callahan also said there was no indication of prior family trouble.

The Valentinos leave behind three adult children, all of whom live in the Metro Detroit area.

"They are very upset about it. They are very private people and they ask that people respect their privacy," said Callahan.
