Police Find Car, No Sign Of Driver Involved In Hit And Run

Lexington Police have released the name of the man they are looking for in a hit and run accident.

At approximately 10:10 Saturday night, Anthony Gibbs, 24, was crossing eastbound on Nicholasville Road in front of the Five Guys Restaurant when he was hit by a car.

Gibbs was taken to U.K. Hospital for life threatening injuries. He is still listed in critical condition.

Working off a tip, police located the car involved in the crash. The vehicle had been abandoned on a dead end street. So far, police have been unable to find the vehicle's owner, Hector Alviter-Rivera. Police said he may be preparing to flee the area.

Criminal complaints are being sought charging Rivera with leaving the scene of the collision and tampering with physical evidence.

Lexington Police are asking anyone who saw the crash to come forward.
