HAGERSTOWN, MD - Over the weekend, local rescue officials got a unique, hands-on opportunity to practice what to do when they're called to a sceneof an accident involvingheavy equipment, such as a tractor trailer.

The three-day training program is a first for Washington County.

It was funded partly through a grant from the department of transportation.

Rescuers use wood, airbags, ratchets and hydraulic systems to move tons of equipment.

"They've got to see some minor setbacks throughout the scenarios and the evolutions but they've been able to overcome and work through them, and i think they're having a great time, said Mike Green, an instructor.

Organizers hope it will become a semi-yearly or yearly course, so more local rescue workers can take advantage of it. Read more atyour4state.com.
