One-car crash near Dallas kills 2, injures 4

DALLAS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a single-car crash near Dallas killed two people and injured four more, including an infant. It happened shortly before 5 a.m. on Highway 22. The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting at least three of the occupants. State police troopers said the driver, Jose Ruben Pacheco Medina, 19, whose last known address in McMinnville, and 11-year old rear seat male passenger Geobanny Esparza were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt and the driver did not have a valid driver's license. Erick Medina, a 4-month old male baby was in an unbuckled car seat in the left rear seat and was also ejected. The bayb was flown Legacy Emanuel Hospital with critical injuries. Jonathan Esparza, 11, who was also in the back seat was taken to a Salem hospital and then flown to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with critical injuries. Another passenger in the back seat, also not wearing a seat belt was Brandon Esparza, who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The children's mother, Cuzana Rubio Ruiz, 38, from McMinnville, was in the right front seat and was wearing a seat belt. She was treated and released with minor injuries. ©2009 Associated Press.
