When they arrived they found two badly damaged vehicles, a Suburban and a Dodge pickup.

Police believe there were two occupants in the Dodge pickup and four occupants in the Suburban at the time of the collision. A 53-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman in the Dodge pickup suffered major and possibly life-threatening injuries.

Injuries sustained to the occupants of the Suburban were moderate and not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Investigators said they believe the suburban was driven by 31-year-old Modesto resident Jessie Murphy, who was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound of Briggsmore Avenue at the time of the collision.

A witness told investigators that they saw the Suburban driving at a high rate of speed as it failed to stop for a red signal light at the intersection of Oakdale Road and Briggsmore Avenue.

Police are also following up on information that the Suburban was involved in another collision in the area of Parker Road and Held Avenue and possibly being chased by another vehicle.

Investigators said that Murphy was under the influence and she was subsequently arrested for felony DUI.

Investigators are seeking anyone who may have information about the collision or the circumstances leading up to the collision.
