WICHITA, Kansas (KSN) - A 44-year-old man shot in Wichita early Friday morning has died from his injuries. Police have arrested his ex-wife who they say pulled the trigger.
Doctors at Via Christi-St. Francis pronounced John Hazelton dead late Saturday night. Police had arrested Hazelton's estranged wife Friday on suspicion of aggravated battery but those charges have been upgraded to first-degree murder, according to police.
Friday morning, police were called to the 12000 block of W. 19th Street after Hazelton's ex-wife called 911 to report a shooting. The couple's teenage daughter was home at the time of the attack.
Police say they'll forward the case to the district attorney's office early this week and then it will be up to the D.A. to decide if charges will be filed.
