NC Community Helps Dad Honor Somer Thompson

GRAHAM, N.C. - WESH.com

Relatives and friends of the father of Somer Thompson gathered in Graham this weekend to help him memorialize his daughter in his hometown.

The Alamance County community came together to lend support to Sam Thompson. On Sunday, the Fat Frogg Bar and Grill in Elon will hold a benefit for the Thompson family.

The event will feature music and food. Local law enforcement agencies will also hand out identification cards for parents and children.

Somer Thompson abducted while walking home from school in Florida in October. Her body was found a few days later in a Georgia landfill. Police are still searching for her killer.

The award for information leading to an arrest stands at $45,000.

Florida investigators said they are still getting hundreds of tips a day.
