COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - WLWT.com
Officials are investigating a motorcycle crash early Sunday that left a Fairfield man in critical condition.
The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of Old Colerain Road, east of East Miami River Road, in Colerain Township, officials said.
Jeffrey W. Rankin, 49, of Fairfield, Ohio, was traveling westbound on Old Colerain Road when he lost control of his motorcycle while rounding a curve, according to police.
Rankin's motorcycle "went off the right side of the paved portion of the roadway, then struck a guardrail post," investigators said.
That forced the motorcycle to roll over into its left side, throwing him from a seated position, officers said.
Colerain Township medics took Rankin to University Hospital.
Police said he was not wearing a helmet when the crash happened.
