KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Police said a person suspected in the death of a woman found last week at a Bellevue motel took his own life Saturday night in Knoxville.

Local police and U.S. marshals were trying to serve William Troope with a warrant at a motel when he leapt off a third-floor balcony.
Troope was wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Wendy McKinney, whose body was found inside a Bellevue motel Wednesday.
According to Metro police, she had been beaten and strangled.
Troope and McKinney had a history of domestic violence.
