Ex-prison guard admits dealing drugs

Levittown - A former prison guard pleaded guilty Thursday to charges he was dealing drugs outside the prison and at the time he was arrested on those charges was smuggling drugs into the prison.Edward J. Plandowski Jr., 28, of Sellersville, pleaded guilty to numerous drug and contraband charges in county court Thursday and was sentenced to 4 1/2 to 10 years for selling drugs to undercover investigators in Perkasie and two to four years on a second set of charges stemming from a raid of his Calais Drive home and subsequent arrest. Police initially bought painkillers from Plandowski in June and July and during one the deals the undercover office noticed a prison guard shirt hanging in the window of Plandowski's pickup. They arrested him weeks later as he arrived for work at the prison and investigators found he was carrying seven painkillers with him as he entered the prison. Police found a switchblade, prescription drugs, cocaine, heroin and marijuana in his Sellersville home. Plandowski, who had been a guard for five months, was fired after his arrest.Plandowski's girlfriend, Heather Irvin, 21, is awaiting trial on drug charges stemming from the investigation as well.
