There is more information about the death of a 16 year old teenager from Mitchell who was found in the trunk of a car that was set on fire.

According to an affidavit released by the Department of Criminal Investigation, Jasmine Guevara was stabbed to death by Alexander Salgado and his teenage girlfriend because the girlfriend was jealous of Salgado and Guevara’s friendship.

Court papers say the three went to Wal-Mart to buy items like charcoal and lighter fluid for what Guevara thought was going to be a cook out.

The court documents go on to say both Salgado and the 15 year old girl admitted to authorities they stabbed and cut Jasmine's throat, then set the vehicle, with her body, on fire with the lighter fluid.

Salgado was arraigned for first-degree murder Friday night in Davison County.  The juvenile appeared in court via teleconference on Friday.

Deputy Attorney General says prosecutors have not yet decided what she will be charged with or whether to try her as an adult.
