YAKIMA--A senior class project works to make our town a greener and cleaner place.
The Davis High School Recycle-A-Thon comes a day before National Recycling Day on Sunday, November 15.
For the third straight year about 30 kids came to the high school to collect people's trash.
One organizer thinks Yakima needs to recycle more.
"A lot of the garbage they throw away can actually be recycled," Tania Robledo said. "[Recycling] helps prevent filling our landfill."
Robledo and her classmates hoped to collect more than five tons of garbage, topping the previous Recycle-A-Thon record by a ton.
