The library took two years to construct.

The new library not only has more room for reading, but conference rooms and room to expand.

The chair of the Derby Library Board says the new library will sustain growth for the next 50 years.

"I think it means the people of Derby placed their values in education and the arts and in family values," said DeAnn Barr.

Thousands of visitors toured the facility on Saturday.
