Crash kills pedestrian in south Bakersfield, suspect arrested

A Bakersfield man is under arrest after police say the car he was driving, struck and killed a pedestrian. Officers were called to the 2200 block of Planz Road Saturday morning for a collision with major injuries. When they arrived, the suspected car had left the area. Police were able to find the car and find the suspect to a residence on Marlene Place. The suspect, 22-year-old Jose Manuel Orozco was later arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail. He's facing charges among others of felony vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. The name of the pedestrian that was killed has not been released.
