Peoria police are investigating a shooting late Friday night.

Authorities say a 17-year-old was shot in the back near the corner of Richmond and Linn.

Police say there was an exchange of gunfire at that location just a few blocks from Peoria Central High School about 11:20 Friday night.

The name of the victim was not available. His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.
