Displaced Workers from Caterpillar Mossville May Get Help

The US Department of Labor says some displaced workers at the Caterpillar Mossville facility will be able to apply for assistance. They're part of the nearly 3400 workers in eight states who are eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

Last December, CAT announced 814 indefinite layoffs in its engine production facility at Mossville.

The information from the Labor Department does not specify how many CAT workers at Mossville are eligible. The assistance could include everything from income support to tax credits for health insurance and job training.

More details will be released by the local U-A-W on Tuesday.

CAT currently has a new engine plant under construction in Texas.
