More than 450 people volunteered at 25 sites throughout San Luis Obispo County on Saturday, October 24, as part of the 11th annual Make A Difference Day.
Cal Poly students, the Central Coast Volunteer Corps, the United Way Youth Board and the Interact Club of San Luis Obispo High School were just some of the groups that worked for four hours completing an array of landscaping, gardening, painting and fundraiser projects.
Organizers say they did about $41,000 worth of work.
"All of the volunteers were eager to serve," said Heather Demosthenes, an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow with The Community Center, who organized the event. "Everyone had great attitudes and energy. The volunteers were able to help the agencies complete a lot that day."
Next year's Make a Difference Day will take place on October 23, 2010.
