HOUSTON - A driver who was trying to cut through a northwest Houston funeral procession hit an off-duty METRO police officer, officials told KPRC Local 2 Friday.
Investigators said the officer was working an extra job for the funeral procession at about 1 p.m. when a car pulled out in front of the officer's motorcycle in the 3400 block of North Shepherd near West 34th Street, striking him.
The officer was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He slipped in and out of consciousness during the commute.
The driver of the car was not injured.
There's no word yet on the officer's condition or what charges could be filed.
His name was not released.
