LaVERGNE, Tenn. - Metro police said in a release Saturday afternoon that divers with the Metro Office of Emergency Management recovered the body of a LaVergne girl reported missing Friday morning by her parents. Police said the case is an apparent suicide.
Search crews found Esaela Hariri, 17, near the Hobson Pike Bridge on Saturday. The discovery was not far from where her vehicle was found. Officers recovered her Chevy Malibu Friday.
Esaela, who takes medication and injections, left a note, police said.
"The chief investigator has determined she was suffering from an illness," said LaVergne police Capt. Stace Thompson. "She hadn't written any letters of suicide, but more along the lines of farewell. The letters talked about the pain she was in because of her illness."
Thompson did not disclose the girl's medical condition.
