Levittown - Cape May County Emergency Management officials say the bridge connecting the barrier islands of Avalon and Sea Isle City is closed indefinitely.County Communications Director Lenora Boninfante says the Townsends Inlet Bridge has been closed because a barge being used to repair the bridge was stuck underneath the structure after breaking loose from its moorings on Wednesday night.Officials say a crew will try to secure the barge after midnight Friday, when the tide is expected to be at its lowest.A state of emergency took effect in Cape May County at 6 p.m. Thursday.Forecasters say strong winds from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida could cause the worst tidal flooding in southern New Jersey in several years.___Information from: The Press of Atlantic City, http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com
