ROSEVILLE, Calif. - KCRA.com
The city of Roseville says people can't dance at Cloud 9.
The eatery and lounge on Pleasant Grove Boulevard has been cited for violation of codes, including rules that say the place isn't in an area that's zoned for dancing.
Owners were issued a use permit in 2008 for the facility so that it could operate as a banquet and restaurant. They were specifically told that the facility could not be used as a nightclub, Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said.
In late October, the city of Roseville sent a letter to the restaurant about the code violations. Gunther said since then, it's been cited three times for dancing violations.
Police said the city of Roseville could go after the owners with criminal misdemeanor charges, or could get a court injunction so that the nightclub can no longer operate.
"Our interest is not in shutting the business down … but they cannot operate a nightclub there," Gunther said.
Police said the owners of Cloud 9 could not be reached for comment.
The restaurant is described as a restaurant and ultra lounge on its Web site.
