MILWAUKEE - Thanksgiving is just two weeks away, and many families don't know if they'll have meal this holiday. There's a growing demand at food shelters, and the race is on to feed those less fortunate.

As food arrives at Feeding America's warehouse, it's quickly shipped back out and given to needy families.

"The demand from this point last year is up 30 percent., which is huge especially going into the holiday season," explained spokesperson Dawn Albrecht.

The holidays are coming up fast at Feeding America, which is formerly known as Second Harvest. The charity provides food to hundreds of hunger-relief programs.

"We're starting to get down to the bottom of the barrel," worker Lottie Seaman lamented. "People who usually donate are now in line. It's a rough time."

"People are losing their jobs, they have families, they need food. It just seems like it's getting worse.

At a time we should all be giving thanks, Feeding America is thankful for each and every donation.

"We really need those donations to come in," Albrecht said.
