SPOKANE, Wash. - A 59-year-old inmate has been found dead in his cell at the Spokane County Jail.
Sgt. Dave Reagan of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office says the man, who was not identified, appeared to have died of natural causes.
He says corrections officers knocked on the inmate's cell door Wednesday evening and when he did not respond officers went inside and found him dead.
The jail was briefly locked down until staff determined there was nothing suspicious about the death. The man had no prior record of significant medical problems.
Reagan says was booked into the jail Oct. 18 on charges of second-degree assault.
