Six Students, Two Others Hurt In Laurel County School Bus Crash

Six students and two adults were hurt Thursday morning after an accident involving a Laurel County school bus and an SUV.

The accident happened on Sublimity School Road and KY 1006. Police say the driver of the SUV apparently crossed the center line and hit the bus, which was carrying 20 students from Hunter Hills Elementary who en route to a field trip.

Police say six students and the driver of the bus were taken to Laurel County hospitals. They say the none of the students had any apparent injuries, and they were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV was trapped in the vehicle for a time before being extracted and flown to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
