Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in the Avondale neighborhood.
Police said the shooting happened Wednesday in the 700 block of Ridgeway Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. when a fight involving 40 to 50 people broke out.
Officers said that at some point in the fight, a man ran out of a home and into the street, where fired several shots at a car driving down Ridgeway Avenue.
Investigators said one of the bullets struck an innocent bystander, 27-year-old Candace Tate.
She was transported to University Hospital, where she died a short time later.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
