Forecasters Expect Worst Of Storm On Thursday

Weather Service Posts Winter, Wind Advisories

Heavy rains drenched parts of the Big Island on Wednesday as part of the storm churning east of the islands.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service have kept the state under a flash flood watch through Thursday night. The heaviest rains and thunderstorms are expected to move over the island chain on Thursday.

Parts of the state saw downpours and lightning.

Kauai officials closed Wailua Golf Course because of strong gusts and rains. Officials will determine whether to reopen on Thursday morning.

Kauai remains under a wind advisory. Gusts up to 30 mph could blow over the Garden Isle.

The summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea remain under a winter weather advisory. Snow and sleet could cover the Big Island summits.
