Fire inspectors took a closer look Wednesday at the Hotel Brunswick in Lancaster.
Fire officials shut down the hotel for fire code violations in July, deeming it unsafe for habitation.
In recent months, the hotel's owners have fixed what led to the violations.
"We wanted to make the building as safe as possible," said Dennis Link, of Karden Construction Services.
It took nearly four months to get the hotel up to code. Fire marshals visited the building Wednesday morning and said it passed inspection.
"Obviously, I'm happy it went well today," said Link. "They spent a lot of time and a lot of money in order to meet and exceed all the requirements that were established."
Contractors fixed a number of issues, including updating the sprinkler system and checking the fire exits. The owners purchased a brand new fire alarm system for the hotel.
"The owners were very interested in doing everything that was necessary so that the guests felt safe and comfortable here," said Link.
Officials said it is now up to the hotel's owners when the facility will open. That is still up in the air, but the inspection is a major step forward.
The owners said there is a chance the hotel could reopen before the holidays, but that all depends on when the paperwork goes through and if the hotel can get employees in time.
