WAUGH-An Auburn University student was killed and another injured when their vehicle overturned on Interstate 85, which was slick with rain from tropical storm Ida.
State troopers said two Auburn students were traveling south on I-85 near Waugh about 11 p.m. Tuesday when their Chevrolet Equinox hydroplaned and overturned.
Troopers said the driver, 19-year-old Sarah Darelle Anderson of Robertsdale, was killed, and 20-year-old Sara Elizabeth Clayton of Auburn was injured. She was listed in stable condition Wednesday at a Montgomery hospital.
Troopers said Anderson’s vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer truck before it could be moved from the highway. The truck driver was not injured.
Waugh is about five miles east of Montgomery.
