LOS ANGELES - Jon Gosselin and Mel Gibson might want to make room in the Octo-dad club for crooner Rod Stewart.

The 64-year-old singer is hoping to have his eighth child with his third wife, 38-year-old Penny Lancaster.

“Yes, we’re trying — we actually tried last night!” Stewart told the British talk show GMTV on Tuesday. “One more and then we’re going to close the office.”

They couple already has a 4-year-old son, Alastair, together — who Stewart is over the moon for.

“He’s just a sweet kid at the moment,” he said of his youngest. “I did take him out on the football field the other day. He put all his Celtic stuff on, I said, ‘Come on, let’s get running out there,’ and he went, ‘Oh, there’s some flowers for mummy — must collect them.’ He spent about two hours collecting flowers in a basket for his mum!”

Stewart was previously married to Alana Hamilton and model Rachel Hunter.
