MINNEAPOLIS- A Richfield man is sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for killing his sister and threatening her baby.
Guuci Beyena Mokonnen told police he was angry with his sister, Tobista Beyena Mokonnen, for not allowing him to live with her.
The 22-year-old mother was found with her throat slashed in the parking lot of the Buena Vista Apartments in Richfield last May. Her 8-month-old baby was in her arms, but was not injured.
Mokonnen earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. Hennepin County Judge Tanya Bransford sentenced him Monday to 30 years for killing his sister and three years for threatening the baby. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
