Family of victim in fatal police shooting files lawsuit against City of Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Attorneys for the family of Christopher Villarreal have formally filed a lawsuit against the City of Kennewick, claiming over ten million dollars in damages.

In September, Villarreall was shot at killed by Kennewick Police Officer Lee Cooper.

They are charging the city, acting on behalf of Kennewick Police with Negligent Supervision, Civil Rights Violations, Loss of Consortium, Excessive Use of Force, Wrongful Death and Gross Negligence.

They now have to wait sixty days before their first possible appearance in court.
