The deal
There are a number of low-cruises that call on the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Virgin Islands, but sailing to the Southern islands of the Caribbean usually comes with a higher price tag. In addition, these unique voyages usually require costly airfare to an international embarkation port in Barbados or Puerto Rico. Finding a cruise that sails from Florida is a rare treat indeed — especially one with an affordable price tag to match. Luckily, we've found this 8-nighter aboard the Carnival Miracle that sails from Fort Lauderdale and carries a price tag of $609 — that's just $76/night.

The ship embarks on November 20 an spends two leisurely days at sea during which time passengers can get to used to their new surroundings. The Miracle offers plenty of lively onboard entertainment that Carnival has become known for including a piano bar, late-night dance club, casino, and show lounge. The first port of call on this exciting itinerary is Philipsburg, in St. Maarten — the Dutch-owned side of the island that shares ownership with France. After that, the ship will dock in Castries, St. Lucia where travelers can explore a tropical rainforest, a drive-in volcano, or relax on St. Lucia’s unspoiled beaches before sailing on to Basseterre, St. Kitts. This area is well known for its eco-tourism and a relaxed, un-crowded atmosphere. Oceanview staterooms on this voyage are selling for $709, and balcony cabins are also available from $809.
