The body was found last week in a trash bin at Nottingham Apartments, near Middle Tennessee State University's campus.
On Wednesday, the Murfreesboro Fire Department released a statement that said dental records positively identified the victim as 32-year-old Justin C. Wong. Fire officials concluded that the cause of death was suicide by fire. Toxicology reports are still pending.
Fire officials said Wong, a native of Massachusetts, was living at Nottingham Apartments at the time of his death. His family has been contacted.
Autopsy results had already confirmed last week that the man's death was not the result of a homicide.
