KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Benton Franklin Health District was waiting for the flood gates to open. And now it appears they finally have.
Just a few weeks ago, the health district got only a few hundred doses each week. Now they are approaching five thousand; that means the vaccines are now going to general physicians for healthy adults, not just at risk populations.
"So we're at the point we're hoping to get some vaccines out into the pharmacies the big chain pharmacies so they can start vaccinating,” says Heather Hill of the Health District.
The Health District expects a list of pharmacies that will get the vaccine to be on their web site by weeks end. Only at-risk populations will be able to get the vaccine at a pharmacy.
However, still in short supply are seasonal flu vaccines, but those will come in as flu season continues.
