Election Winner Pulled From Hat

WINTERSET, Iowa - THEIOWACHANNEL.com

The winner of a mayoral race in St. Charles was selected from a drawing on Tuesday.

The vote for mayor was completed on Nov. 3, but resulted in a tie: Incumbent Joann Brown received 112 votes and the challenger Dennis Smith received 112 votes.

The Madison County Auditor pulled the winner's name from a hat.

Dennis Smith was selected as the new mayor of the town.
